On May 11, 2016, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Georgia Chapter held its annual Chapter Equipment, Mechanic, and Truck Road-E-O in Dublin, Georgia. The Chapter event was held to qualify competitors for the SWANA International Road-E-O which will be held in Dublin, Georgia September 2nd through 4th 2016 – competition day is September 3rd. The SWANA International competition will establish the “best” Equipment Operator, Mechanic, and Truck Driver in the Solid Waste Industry – at least for 2016 – by testing competitor’s skills in maneuvering through challenging course for operators and drivers, or solving complex problems for mechanics. The top overall finisher in equipment, mechanic, and truck events will be declared the “Top Gun” of the event for 2016.
The equipment, mechanic, and truck Road-E-Os are just one way that SWANA to gives back to and recognizes the outstanding personnel in our industry.
The Georgia Chapter event held on May 11, 2016 qualified competitors from both the private and public sectors. Competitions were held for automated side- loader, front load, rear load, roll-off, and tractor trailer under the truck categories; dozer, articulated dump truck (ADT), rubber-tired loader, and track hoe in the equipment categories; and mechanics. The top two finishers in each event qualified for the International Road-E-O; therefore 22 of the Georgia competitors are eligible for the International event. The Top Guns of the Georgia Chapter Road-E-O will be sponsored by the Chapter (i.e. expenses covered) for the International Road-E-O. Georgia Chapter Road-E-O Top Guns for 2016 were:
