Savannah-Chatham Metroplex - Watkins Associates

Savannah, Georgia - Atlantic Coast Consulting was retained by Watkins Associates to provide the civil engineering design for the redevelopment of a former USDA research and testing facility. The 16-acre facility was purchased by the City of Savannah with the intention of redeveloping it into a Metroplex quartermaster, property building and training facility for the Savannah Chatham Metro Police Department. The site, located between Edwin Avenue and Ross Road, contained several existing buildings, access roads, railroad spur and associated parking areas. Since the site is located outside of the 100-year flood plain, no flood plain mitigation was necessary. Civil engineering design included existing improvement selective demolition, parking, stormwater detention and utilities. In addition to the design services, ACC engineers also assisted in LEED certification for the development, preparation of the construction documents, bidding and construction administration.

Mill Creek Subdivision Drainage and Pavement Improvements - City of St. Marys, Georgia

Mill Creek 1St. Marys, Georgia - ACC engineers provided analysis of drainage and pavement problems and development of construction plans for proposed remedies. Existing problems included poor storm drainage capacity as well as multiple pavement failures at inverted crown roads with in the existing 125 lot residential subdivision that was less than ten years old. Proposed pavement improvements included reclaiming the existing pavement in-place in order to provide for continued access within the subdivision for residents as well as emergency vehicles. Design included lowering of the lake level to provide additional storm capacity as well as allow better runoff from the subdivision during smaller storm events. ACC was responsible for coordinating all permitting with ACOE, EPD and NRCS. Additionally, ACC provided construction administration for the project from initiation of construction to final completion.

McCroskey Island WWTP Office and Warehouse Facility - City of Sevierville, Tennessee

Sevierville, Tennessee - ACC provided the civil site engineering services on the design, local permitting and construction administrative for a building addition at the Sevierville Waste Water Treatment Plant. The design consisted of developing the site grading and drainage; staking; utility and erosion and control plans; and details associated with the site improvements. A hydrologic analysis, design calculations and technical specifications necessary for permitting and construction were developed. The permitting included securing the land disturbance permit for the City of Sevierville and the NPDES construction stormwater permit from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

Cumberland Island National Seashore Visitors Center - National Park Service

Cumberland Island Visitors CenterSt. Marys, Georgia - ACC staff served as project manager for the civil/site portion of the Cumberland Island National Seashore Visitors Center in St. Marys, Georgia. Project included planning, permitting and design for a new support pavilion and visitors center at the embarkation point to Cumberland Island National Seashore. Civil design included surveying, geotechnical study, utilities design, grading and dock improvements. Site design also included a bulkhead design along the riverfront as well as permitting with Georgia DNR.

DSI Warehouse Expansion - Distribution Services International

Port Wentworth, Georgia - Due the demand for warehouse space in this ever expanding port community, DSI decided to double their operating capacity by adding 170k SF to their existing warehouse. The expanded portion of the warehouse was designed to include storage space, loading facilities and a covered rail spur capable of processing 16 rail cars. With ACC staff leading the project, permit and construction documents were prepared for the pre-engineered warehouse expansion. The team obtained necessary development permits from the City of Port Wentworth and a rail spur permit from Norfolk Southern Corporation. ACC assisted DSI with bidding and construction phase administration.

Palmetto Street Sidewalk Improvements - City of St. Marys, Georgia

St. Marys, Georgia - ACC prepared contract documents in order for the City to build a 8,100 foot sidewalk from the intersection of Martha Drive and Douglas Drive to the intersection of Sloan Street and Point Peter Road. A portion of the proposed sidewalk route was affected by a proposed water main extension along Douglas Drive. ACC engineers prepared design drawings, specifications, bidding and contract documents to construct the new sidewalk facility. Additionally, they provided preliminary engineering drawings to establish the sidewalk alignment. In short, ACC provided complete services from preliminary engineering through construction administration. The scheduling of the project had to be carefully coordinated with the Douglas Drive Waterline Improvements construction project.

Belle Harbor Subdivision - Charles Scott Stafford

St. Marys, Georgia - ACC provided preliminary design services, construction plans and permitting assistance on a 52-acre single family residential development including 125 lots off County Road 78 in St. Marys. The preliminary design included a subdivision road and lot alignment. The design also included an entrance on Winding Road as well as one to Belle Arbor, Phase 2A, detention area location , streets and lots. Also, the design included connection to the City's water and sewer system. Once the lot layout was approved by the Owner, ACC provided construction and permit plans for the subdivision which included site layout, grading and utility plans; road and utility profiles; erosion control plans; construction details and specifications; hydrology and detention analysis; and utility analysis. A sanitary sewer extension form was prepared and submitted to EPD. Land disturbance permit documents were submitted to the state as well. NPDES Stormwater Construction permitting included submittal of plans and the Notice of Intent.
